Bio (short)

bim+bo (pronounced “bim plus bo”) is an alternative soul band formed in Chicago, based in Brooklyn. The experimental duo began with producer and multi instrumentalist Blank Face Villain, and vocalist and dancer, Brittany Harlin. They performed alongside each other in Chicago's DIY scene, and have been collaborating since. Blurring the line between heartfelt confessions and dance breaks, the ensemble invites both internal reflection and external release. Equal parts disco, punk rock, dance movement, and mixed martial arts, the group disarms with vulnerability and rebuilds with courage. The ensemble performs as a duo as well as a band, continuing to touch stages, delivering a breath of fresh air and inclusion in the conversation.

Bio (long)

bim+bo is an alternative soul band led by vocalist Brittany Harlin and producer Blank Face Villain. The group presents ethereal melodies with pop sensibilities and with the warmth of an older sister. 

bim+bo is dedicated to bringing authenticity and lived experiences to life through art. As a dancer choreographer, Brittany Harlin brings influences from the pioneers of the Hip Hop and Modern Dance movements into her work as a singer-songwriter. Blank Face Villain’s experience as a classical musician informs his organic production. The two have had their music and dance work featured on Apple TV’s Shrinking, and have collaborated with Denzel Curry, DRAMA, Charlie Wilson, and Babyface. Brittany Harlin and Blank Face Villain have also performed across the country, including venues such as The Bowery Electric, Nublu, Montalbán Theater Hollywood, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. The band features Joe Ostrow on bass and Meena Chen on guitar. Together, bim+bo finds inspiration through inquiries on conflict, human connection, and the implications of relationships.
